It was obviously meant as a sarcastic, "supposed-to-be-funny" remark and just kinda rude. If you were going through a painful time in your life would you want someone joking about it?
Personally, I love Linda Eder, she's an amazing singer, and as for the emotion factor, the songs move her to tears a lot of the time, so who ever things she doesn't show emotion, must not have seen her live. I just experienced her at the Palace in NY and she was moved to tears on more than one occasion, as well as leaving the audience without a dry eye. I guess that's "just my opinion" though, since we're all being snide.

Here's a little hint: having a degree in acting means nothing. Do you know how many people have degrees in something that they are awful at? So saying you have a 'degree in acting' gives you no credibility. If you win a Tony, then maybe we'll pay more attention.
