I have always wondered this. If a cast recording wins a Grammy does that make the cast members grammy winners, and do they get actual awards?

I believe the composers and listed principles do.
For example, when Book of Mormon won Trey Parker, Matt Stone, Robert Lopez, Andrew Rannells and Josh Gad all were credited for winning that award.

Principle vocalists only started receiving the award in 2012. Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth are not Grammy winners for Wicked.
