Broadway's Greatest Love Song?
fully agree about the self serving nature of many of the article respondents i go back to several bway love songs that always get me 1) so in love-kiss me kate 2) written in the stars-aida 3) on the street where you live-my fair lady
If you were to rank these shows......
hadestown moulin rouge tina mean girls frozen beetlejuice comsider aint too proud if you can fit it in
Tours with better casts than OBCs
just see the original broadway casts whenever you can!!!! there is something absolutely magical about the energy, creativity, and passion of those originating these roles together. as someone who lives in san francisco, i used to compare and try to equate tour casts with obc’s...wishful thinking in general on my part and some sour grapes for not living in nyc ive been going for years now in may to nyc to see most or all the new musicals, then invariably seeing the tour versions two years late...

Interesting Mid-Show Mishaps
wicked sf sit down-eden espinosa was struggling with allergies during first few songs, went off stage on way to oz and standby felicia ricci came back on as elphie as entering oz with no announcement. felicia did great, but mispositioned the broom during the elevator lift in gravity and it snapped in two...Felicia as an excellent elphaba and sorry to see her not stay in musicals, she did some amazing youtube videos and a great online vocal training program....
Your Top 10 Shows This Decade
hi vintagesnarkerbeen a while since we have chatted. I knew epic would draw a response so we can have a dialogue vs another dreary list postingEpic is certainly a subjective opinion, and it will take the advantage of time to see where the class of 2010-2019 stacks up against golden age decades in the 1950s and 1960s or the BIG musical 1980s or 1990s. my nomination for 2010s as EPIC is based on1) Hamilton as a true gamechanger in making music in musicals contemporary as well as being in many c...

RIP Broadway 07/18/2019
of course this title is clickbait, but im in an airport waiting for my plane so ill bite... i saw all the new shows and revivals this season. hadestown was fantastic, aint too proud was dazzling, tootsie was funny and well acted, and the prom was good fun. the fresh look at oklahoma held my attention no blockbusters this season with long legs like evan hansen or hamilton except maybe aint too proud which i think will outlast hadestown its a boom economy so people are paying up for good seats t...

Biggest Tony upset of all time?
i never thought mathilda was a great musical i liked berties performance a lot... i listen to kinky boots songs all the time have seen in many times over its run and thoroughly enjoyed every cast and performance. i saw mathilda obc once and tour once and wouldnt go back again... i know everyone has their favorites so respect those of you that loved mathilda more... the audience certainly voted with grosses and giving kinky boots a 2500 performance run on bway vs 1500 show run for mathilda i t...

Ain't Too Proud ... Snubbed!
ain’t too proud can laugh all the way to the bank and to impacting and uplifting so many people this show will outlast, outgross, and out tour hadestown and all other shows from this season combined after seeing it prebroadway a handful of times and loving every single performance. i saw it sunday in nyc somehow and fantastic show had gotten even better with the cast members operating at an absolutely incredible level (special shout out to ephram and jeremy...nice dang!!!! what a simply amazi...
The Prom Will Close 8/11
just saw the show last week and sad to hear its closing great book with some nice satire on bway and a lot of delightful fun score with several gems wonderful and very lovable cast all that said its a good and probably not great show with a story line thats not as likely to register mass appeal. the bands visit won 10 tonys and closed after 18 because there is not sustained mass appeal for beautiful niche productions(although i read it did recoup) i think a lot of people give more credit to t...
Roy Orbison's
this is a good move shocked they didnt do it from the start just saw this last week for the first time and liked it a lot more than i thought i would its not great it is fun and entertaining and the guy playing the hotel manager/street person pretty much steals the show i was also lucky enough to see roy orbison play a 400 person club in sf in 1982 he was the real deal pretty woman is a truly iconic song, long before richard gere and julia roberts ever showed up
Hamilton San Francisco
wow hamilton sf just showed up on goldstar with 95 rear mezz and side mezz seats also noticed top premium seats in center orch and front mezz arent selling and being discounted down to as low as 200 a few days before show the san francisco cast is terrific, so looking like hamilton is reaching saturation after five mos in sf in 2017 and almost four months on this run.... im really surprised and think part of it may be that people dont think good tickets are available at reasonable prices...
