changing ticket for Sunset Blvd

I have a ticket for an April performance that I can no longer attend. I am back in NYC in May, so I'm wondering if I can just change my ticket? There seems to be no shortage of seats right now. Should I call Ticketmaster? Or would it be better for me to visit the box office when I'm there in April and try and do an exchange in person?

It can't hurt to call Ticketmaster and see what happens. The worst they could do is say they can't help you, and then you can still try in person at the box office. It's not like they'll flag your ticket to warn the box office that they've already told you no.

Just call their theater box office number (found on any show website) and not the people who do concerts/sports, as they will just launch right into no refunds.

Just call Ticketmaster Fan Support and request an exchange, they are very accomdating. I just exchanged an Opening Night ticket for a ticket to tonight's performance

I had to make an exchange the other day. Ticketmaster said absolutely no refunds. Called the box office directly and they handled it. They had to refund my previous order and then place a new order for the new date I wanted, so they can't do just a simple exchange.

Yes - I just got off phone with Ticketmaster and they would not help me. Strange how one person can get an exchange and another can't. I'll call the box office this weekend and hopefully get its exchanged!

This was my scenario: I needed to exhange Amelie tix for a different date so I called the T.M. fan support line at 1(800) 653-8000. The rep#1 took down my order # info and said someone would call me back within 24 hrs after speaking with the box office. I'm so used to how Telecharge handles exchanges so I was taken aback that it would take so long. I also stressed that I was leaving NY for a trip abroad early the next day. Luckily, rep#2 called be back in approx 3 hrs and exchanged the tickets for the new date with no issues - he sent an email confirmation/tix via pdf right away.

I'm the type that prefers specific seats and everything all planned out so I definitely would take care of it now rather than later. Hope you get things resolved!

changing ticket for Sunset Blvd - what is a modified order??

Giving this a bump as I'm trying to figure out Ticketmaster. So I called the Theatre to try and exchange my April ticket to the date in May when I'll be in NYC. I spoke to a really nice lady who explained to me that they can't exchange but she would call the box office and ask them to refund my ticket and then I can buy a new ticket on TM. She took down my ticket info and put me on hold for a few minutes. When she came back she apologized and said they could not refund me because my ticket is a "modified order" through TM. When I asked what that was, the best explanation that I could understand was that it might have actually been a 3rd party exchange through TM that I wasn't even aware of, and then, because of that, the theatre can't offer me a refund. She suggested I go back to TM and ask them for refund/exchange again, now that I have this knowledge.

So, I did that, and I got a response back from TM that they cannot do an exchange or refund on my ticket and suggested I try and sell it on their website. They never addressed my question on why the ticket is termed a modified order, when I literally bought it the day the tickets were released on T, and why this means that I can't refund through the theatre.

I politely replied that I wasn't satisfied with their response and have requested that my query be taken to his Manager. I still want to understand what a modified order is, and why that disallows me from being able to get a refund through the theatre.

Has anyone else had this experience, and/or are you able to explain it better to me? I've pretty much written the ticket off at this point - I will put it up for sale on this board if I can't get the exchange, but I'm confused and a little peeved that TM is being unreasonable. There are plenty of tickets left on the day I purchased and even more on the day I want to go. It seems like it would be easy to do the exchange.

Any ideas??

Could I try past dating with the ticket when I'm in town in May? I don't really understand that process but seems like maybe its a possibility?
