Get August in there somewhere. It's too wonderful to be missed. I don't know what I'd take out, but it's really special.
I loved it!
#2re: coming to broadway again.....
Posted: 5/1/08 at 1:20pmI would drop Mary Poppins and move things around so that you could see August.

"I would drop Mary Poppins and move things around so that you could see August."
I was JUST about to post that.
With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-
"Not Barker, Todd is the only person I've ever known who could imitate Katherine Hepburn...in print." -nmartin-

Posted: 5/1/08 at 1:23pmproblem is, NO other shows that I want to see have sunday night performances. The only reason im seeing Poppins is for the fun of it, and for something to see that night. And the production values are supposed to be brilliant, and since I want to be a designer, worth seeing, right?

Drop the Country Girl-it's not as worthwhile as August
Or if you can hold off on Glory Days, wait, and see it some other time.
August is not to be missed.

Posted: 5/1/08 at 1:28pmIf you want to be a designer (sets i'm assuming) than you should definately not drop Poppins. Its a great show in more ways than just the sets. It really is theatrical mastery, and I'm not saying that just because I work there. I think it'll be an enjoyable evening for you and a good way to end such a show-packed week!! Even more so just having seen In The Heights, which I loved. But yea, objectively MP I really do love. Subjectively, because I see it constantly!

Poppins *is* pretty to look at, I will give it that, and the house set is wonderful. However, as a show, as a piece of entertainment, I saw Poppins once, for free, and never felt the need to revisit it, vs I have now seen August, twice, *and* bought the script, and can't wait to start seeing it again in its new theatre- it is just brilliant.
I was going to suggest sacrifice Glory Days, and see August on Fri night, but in all fairness I have yet to see Glory Days...personally I just think your schedule is missing out by not having August on it, esp since it is on the list of shows you are interested in.

Yes, The Country Girl has a stellar cast, but they are awful in it and the show is so boring! Glory Days is just a bad show all around...
August: Osage County is an excellent play and Boeing-Boeing is hilarious!

Posted: 5/1/08 at 1:37pmalright, ill drop country girl for Augst Osage.... the problem with dropping glory days, is that there is no other show short enough for me to see fuezabruta after.
#13re: coming to broadway again.....
Posted: 5/1/08 at 1:39pmA Catered Affair is short enough...and while I didn't care for it, it is certainly better than Glory Days.

Posted: 5/1/08 at 1:39pmhey.. tried PM'ing but it wouldn't let me. Until they cast me in the show (wishful thinking), lol, I sell merchandise. T-shirts, trinkets, her umbrella, etc. Really fun job. Now that I think about it, part of the reason I love the show so much is how happy it makes people, especially families with young children.

all of the shows on my list I havent seen yet. The only show that is a duplicate is fuezabruta. Seen most of the other worthwhile stuff playing.
Anyone know how long it would take to get from A Catered Affair at the Walter Kerr to Fuezabruta at the Daryl Roth??? Can it be done in 30 min? And should i take transit or a cab?
#21re: coming to broadway again.....
Posted: 5/1/08 at 3:21pmDrop Glory Days and see Xanadu!

Posted: 5/1/08 at 3:26pmBack to Mary Poppins. You must see it. The Sets are wonderful and I have to say if you loved the movie -- it is really a lot of fun. I mean it is not Shakespeare.. it is Mary Poppins but I found myself getting misty eyed with it.
#23re: coming to broadway again.....

If you take the N or Q train from 42nd, 14th Street is just two stops away. The closest train to the Walter Kerr Theatre is 49th Street, which are only local trains, I believe. That would be 5 stops to 14th Street. You'd be cutting it pretty close, but it can be done.
