I re-watched the presentation of the best musical and at one point there was a wide angle and on the screen where the winner's name is displayed,it read Wicked but by the end of the speech it was changed to Avenue Q. Did anyone else notice this?

Yes! I was there, and wasn't paying attention to the screen and my date goes "Look! They put up the wrong name". Not only did they do that, but they put the poster for Wicked up on one of the screens, too. I don't know if they got to show that on tv.

YES!!! - I was there too, and noticed that they put "Wicked" up there when Ave Q won. But we were in first mezz with all the Ave Q understudies and such, and of course they were celebrating wildly! :) Some Wicked fans near us noticed though! Took a quick look at the TV tape (TIVO) and saw Ave Q on that.....

Wow...guess a lot of people expected it to win. Including the folks in the box office that planned on special hours today. It sucks to be them.

I wonder what "print" material had already been produced for the Wicked theatre- as they were expected to win I'm sure banners and snipes had to have been printed to attach to all the posters around the theatre claiming their "Best Musical" win... now Ave Q is probably scrambling today printing everything!

You don't think they Nathan and SJess did a Jack Palance, do you? Do you think Wicked REALLY won but they read the wrong answer and everybody was too embarrassed to tell them it was wrong? OH MY GOD. Wicked was probably the real winner. Now that I think about it, that's EXACTLY what happened.

I love it-- lets start spreading the rumor now and see how long it takes to appear on Broadway.com-- they'll print anything!

Rumor? It's a fact. The guy who posted right above you convinced me of it.

I'm happy they won. Yeah- I'm sore Wicked lost but if they were to be beaten by any show I'm glad it was Q. It really has been the little show that could and it winning does send a great message out there that just because you have millions behind a powerhouse of a show doesn't guarantee you anything.
