I recently saw Wicked and liked it alot, and would like to see it on DVD. I don't frequently go to musicals, so I don't know if its customary for musicals to be released on DVD.

Nope.

Until they finally make the film-version of WICKED, that'll be the only version you'll be getting on DVD.

Though the show is filmed for archival purposes, those are never released on home video. Due to tons legal issues, especially Equity policies, this is why those are never released.

If the show originated at the Lincoln Center, there would have been a possibility of it being shown on PBS in the far future -- such as THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, CONTACT, THE TWELVETH NIGHT, etc. were. But again...not ALL Lincoln Center productions were shown: PARADE nor THE FROGS were.

Anyway...nope. The stage-version of WICKED won't be released on DVD. Ever.
