Posted: 12/19/07 at 8:31pmSorry if something like this has been posted before, but I searched and found nothing! Does anyone know the easiet way to get tickets? I know you can get them through the box office and blah-blah, but what about Rush tickets? What shows do Rush, and how crowded are they? For example, on the Wicked website it says: " twenty four front row Stalls seats released at the Box Office every morning at 10.00am priced £25.00. Limit of 2 tickets per person. Tickets sold on a first come, first served basis." Would I have to line up super early? Any help would be greatly appreciated! THANK YOU!!!

Well...I'd firstly say why bother seeing Wicked, why not see something you'll only ever be able to see here in London instead of something which feels like it has a production in every state in the US?
But yeah we don't have the same concept of "rush" tickets, but lots of shows will do tickets an hour or so before the show for a reduced rate, if you're a student. You'd only have to be there early on school holidays and at weekends, otherwise you'd be fine getting there 9 - 9.30 or so. The tkts booth in Leicester Square is also good for getting cheap tickets. Quite a few shows do the early morning ticket things like Wicked, only the really popular ones though.

I got a day seat for Hairspray in early November. Showed up at 8.50 a.m. (box office opens at 10) and was number 7 in line. No idea what it's like at the moment, though.

Posted: 12/20/07 at 12:50pmThanks! Yeah, I just figured that Rush wouldn't be as hardcore as it is in NYC.

Posted: 12/20/07 at 2:10pmI don't know what it's like now, but when I spent the summer in London in 2001, TKTS was quite handy and I saw a lot of shows that way. Plus, London shows typically have a broader range of ticket prices including more of the cheaper 10-20 pound tickets. Something you rarely see on Broadway. And at most theatres, if I waiting until about an hour before curtain, I would ask for the cheapest ticket and they would upgrade me for free to fill in gaps in the stalls. The box offices in London are far more genial than those on Broadway. Well, pretty much any box office is far more genial than Broadway. In the 20 or so years I've been going to NYC, it's rare that I have ever come across a nice or even mildly helpful person working in a Broadway box office.

Posted: 12/20/07 at 2:17pmI can't help it, I'm one of those Wicked losers. I'll definitely be seeing Wicked, Hairspray, Rent (before it closes), Spamalot. Probably everything I can! As for price, I'm not too picky because I'm saving all my money for shows. I just wanted to try and get the cheapest tickets that I could.
