Jamie Lloyd, the director, has a history with William Finn - he directed the (I think) UK premiere of Falsettoland at the Edinburgh Fringe a decade ago, which was supposed to be brilliant. He was so, so great in Buffy, especially in 'Storyteller'. Him and Kerry Butler make this show, which otherwise would be my idea of HELL, sound pretty tempting. (Also, sorry to lower the tone, but has anyone noticed he is wayyy hotter now than he was in the Buffy days?!)

Big love! My grandparents took me to see it for the first time when I was 6 - I still remember how monumental the barricades appeared to me. I've had a special place for it in my heart ever since then! Although seeing the terrible current London cast recently made me feel a bit grumpy towards it, I had to watch the 10th Anniversary dvd to remind myself how good it can be...

This production was incredible at the Donmar, I wish I could see him in the role! I imagine he and Lara Pulver will be fantastic together...

I'm surprised to hear that, Yankeefan. You're the first person I've come across who has disliked War Horse - I've sent a lot of people to see it, and it's had 2 sell out seasons at the NT and is now playing to packed houses in the West End.

I just got the cast recording and listened to it, it was my first exposure to this show, and WOW, I love it. Hope that it comes to London at some point, or I get over to New York to see it.

They already showed it on UK TV - I thought it was really badly filmed. I saw the production twice, and thought it was good, and McKellen's performance very good, but in this filmed version it comes across as lifeless and ugly. It's a shame.

I saw it twice in London, and original production and then the revival with the same cast, it is incredibly beautiful and a unique piece of theatre. It is difficult though and both times I saw it there were numerous walk outs, but if you've got an open mind and a grown up attention span then hopefully you will be captivated by it!

It actually opened in London in June 2006, so when it closes it will have had an almost 3 year run. Very respectable, but I'll be sad to see it go.

That's cute. It's going to be lit up blue in December for my university's 800th anniversary, which I think is pretty funny...

I had an absolutely amazing week in New York - I only visited once before as a kid, so it was really my first time to 'do' the city properly as an adult. I had a great week of theatre too - I saw South Pacific, Xanadu, Gypsy, Spring Awakening, [title of show], and The Little Mermaid. Although I do think the theatre in London is better because there's more variety - mostly because of all the quality plays at the National/Donmar/Royal Court - the buzz and excitement of the Broadway scene is inc...

Hi everyone, I'm coming to New York for a week in the middle of September, and I'm sooo excited. I've only been once before as a kid with my parents, when I wasn't really into theatre. Anyway I see lots and lots of theatre in London, and I'm into absolutely everything - last year I saw over 60 shows, about 40 plays and 20 musicals. I found this production fascinating and moving, but it is pretty esoteric and a lot of people will find it boring or pointless. There were quite a few walkouts in the interval when I saw it. But it's so unique, anyone who is interested in how directors can push the boundaries of theatre should see it. Knowing Woolf's work, obviously The Waves especially, helps too as you understand more the effect all the technical trickery is trying to create.

I'd like to hear it too...
