so anyways, patrick was talking to some woman, but when she left after a minute, Dag went up to him, kissed him, and then immediately turned to introduce me. i shook his hand, but GODDAMNIT i had put my mittens on because it was so cold. aaarg. but he had a nice handshake nevertheless. she told him it was my birthday and he said happy birthday. he asked if i was in the front row and then immediately recinded the question, but i could tell he recognized me, so i told him i had seen him at GMA. i could see the recognition snap into his eyes and he was like oh yeah! you and your friend (emcee was VERY excited to get a mention there) had that sign! and got up really early! "now that's dedication," Dag interjected. and then i made an idiot of myself.

now, on GMA, patrick half sang, half spoke a few bars of a song from TFM. and then the song he sang during this had a very similar line in terms of tune, if not words. so i, like an idiot, was like "yeah, and tonight i got to hear the rest of the song you sang at GMA!" and he was confused and was like, oh no, i sang "Man" then... and he reached out and TOUCHED MY HAND! *cue gasps* and then he sang those bars again. just. for. me. and then he said, with a half wink, "you weren't listening!" and i felt like a total idiot.

anyways. then something came up, i don't remember what, and i explained that emcee couldn't make it because it was a little pricy for college students. he agreed with me there. (oh, forgot to mention, when Dag was introducing me, she told him, "she goes to [my school], that's a really good school." it was so cute and i felt all warm and squishy inside ) anyways, i told patrick that i had given it to myself for my birthday. then he asked if i was doing something else because he (something along the lines of) didn't want me to waste or ruin or something...my birthday at this. i wanted to tell him that there was NOTHING i would rather do, but i didn't. but i said that i'd be celebrating with friends tomorrow night. then he...get this...puts his hand on my shoulder and asked how old i was turning. i told him. forget what happened next. hmmm...why is my mind blanking?

but i DO remember the last part. he said, with a smile, "well, happy birthday!" and then he gave me a BIG hug. and he was wearing the big puffy coat from sundance and i got to squoosh him. it was very...squooshy.

it felt more like an introduction and a real discussion and i felt that whipping my camera out would be distasteful. i already have 2 pictures with him; i'll survive. there were also sevral professional camerapeople there, including one from wireimages. i'm sure pics will be all over the web soon.

so anways, after the hug, i told them, especially Dag, that it was very nice to have met them. i shook Dag's hand again and they told me to get home safely and happy birthday again.

and then i walked away and had this silly grin on my face all the way home from remembering.
