Posted: 6/27/04 at 1:07pmDon't feel bad luvtheemcee, I have tickets for "The Boy From Oz" on Wednesday. Let's hope if there is a strike it'll be over by Wednesday (I know, wishful thinking).

Posted: 6/27/04 at 1:14pmActually didn't they agree on a media blackout and they wouldn't release too many details on what was going on? I suppose we'll hear tomorrow morning if they reached an agreement.

Posted: 6/27/04 at 1:18pmAll it said was that the deadline is tonight at midnight, and that a strike would really do a job on NYC's summer tourism industry. It just didn't sound promising, and they made it sound like if the actors do go on strike, it will be for more than just a few days... I think something was mentioned about the possibility of a month.

Posted: 6/27/04 at 2:39pmWhen the musicians went on strike in MArch it only lasted a week, the city was very active "persuading" a settlement". Same thing will happen. But u are right about the ticked off tourists...They will gripe and the citizenry will bear the brunt. Like they have anything to do with it!

According to "ATC", a press release from Actors equity stated that they continue to negotiate and that some progress has been made.
The selfish side of me really hopes this gets done.
We have 5 shows over the July 4th holiday weekend, and have a lot of friends that have used the long weekend as a chance to get out and take in a show or two. I think we are so lucky to live in NY, and able to experience the excitement of broadway ! Would hate to see it dark again !!!

Posted: 6/27/04 at 3:23pmMy mother and brother have laid out a fair amount of money to fly into New York for the day on the 17th to see Hugh in BOY FROM OZ. It will be very disappointing - if not a little angering - if all that is wasted.

I believe the four shows that are exempt from the strike are:
The Frogs
Assassins
Sight Unseen
After The Fall
They are produced by Lincoln Center, Roundabout or Manhattan Theatre Club, all of which operate under a LORT contract.
If you have tickets for any other show and the strike does indeed happen, you'll be able to get a refund at the point of purchase.

Assassins may have already switched over to the Production contract.
Of course, you guys will get refunds.
There is a chance that the deadline will be extended--I understand that to be a possibility.

Equity released a statement today saying only that the two sides were making progress and working in good faith..nothing about an extension to the deadline or whether they felt they could MAKE the deadline.
So nothing more than we hear before. Just closer to midning that's all.
