I know most people who watch the yearly live musicals mostly do it to hate-watch, but I find them fun despite the flaws. They planted the seeds for me to explore theatre. Anyway, I was thinking about shows I'd like to see the networks do and would love to hear some other people's ideas.
A Chorus Line- I think it would be really hard to screw up. It's just tape on the floor, leotards, and a spotlight. The names the Hollywood Bowl gets tend to be the same crowd the network considers big enough "stars". That Hollywood Bowl production looked good so I don't think the desire to cast names would be an issue.
The Drowsy Chaperone- the narrative device of Man In Chair narrating would translate well I think. Plus it's an intentionally campy show. Hard to screw up camp.
Hair- If high schools can figure out how to do HAIR then NBC can come up with a way.
Hello, Dolly- I want Hello, Dolly: LIVE! with Bernadette. I think out of all the Dolly's from the revival she's the one they'd go with if they couldn't get Bette (and I doubt they could). She's not an A-lister but enough people from several different generations know her to draw a crowd.
I'd love to hear other ideas!
