Anyone have any clue as to who the biggest and smallest Gaston's have been? Was there a height requirement while it was on broadway? Just curious, it is a dream role of mine. Thanks!

Hugh Jackman was a Gaston...so, maybe Wolverine's size ( the movie version), for one

He started his professional theatre career in the Australian production of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. You can also hear him sing in the original cast recording of the Australian production.

I would guess that Donny Osmond is the smallest to date, but that was stunt-casting, so I doubt it's a good name to go off of.
I believe on Broadway Disney Theatrical's height requirement for Gaston was 6'2". I am not positive on that statement, I just remember hearing something along those lines back when it was still running.
Now for the non-eq tour that is going out in about a month, the casting call said the minimum height for Gaston was 6'0".

Cheers,

Gaston's size is between 8-10 inches.
Is it fair to guess that some of the Gastons in the Asian productions may qualify for the shortest? Does that make me racist?

a bit, but honest nonetheless.
It took around 280 views to get an inappropriate comment? REALLY BWW??? I expect more.

I've always thought that a short and chubby Gaston would be hilarious, and work really well.
"He's so... tall!"

I did a professional regional BATB where the Gaston (actually Belle's fiancee) was built like a bodybuilder... but short. He was a few inches smaller than Belle even in boots. He sang "five foot four" instead of "six." There were a series of sight gags related to his height in later comic numbers, with him boosting himself up onto Lefou's back to be seen over the ensemble surrounding him.
I don't see the height being an issue. I think beefiness and size of ego are more key.
I always envisioned Nathan Lane in this role & Rosie as Beauty.
