She doesn't seem to me like the right person to play rose. They should find some one who can sing and is a bit older. First of all, Zeta-Jones has a hell of a voice.
Second of all, she's the perfect age for the role. The passage of time the story takes (going from Rose's children being young toddlers to young women) is going to be alot more tricky to pull off on screen, and someone like Zeta-Jones would easily be able to portray both periods in Rose's life.
While I don't think the movie is ever going to be made, I think Zeta-Jones would be the perfect choice if it ever did happen. She has the right intensity, charm, sex appeal, and talent to pull it off. It's a performance I'd love to see someday in the future.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
