Hi guys! Tomorrow I am going to the city to stage door the 8pm Hamilton show. I have two questions:
- How early should I go if it's an 8 pm show so that I can be along the front of the barricade?
-during the afternoon before I stage door, am I allowed to drop mail off at the stage door? I want to make sure that the cast gets my fan mail as a lot of them are leaving very soon.
thanks for the help! I am kind of new to this.

Don't stage door if you didn't see the show that day.

Not to be rude, but why shouldn't I? I wanted to meet some of the cast as the night that I saw it there was bad weather and so I couldn't stage door. I was hoping to stage door to make up for the fact that I couldn't go when I actually saw the show recently.

Ahhh I thought you were just going to show up without seeing the show. Yeah that's okay IMO.

Oh okay:) do you have an idea of what time I should go to get a good spot?

People start lining up outside the barricades way before the 8pm performance starts plus it's already been established that the principals rarely leave thru the stage door anymore so it's more a miss than a hit seeing them after a performance.
Good luck!

Actually I just realized that the before 8 pm people are probably for the before show stage dooring, which I did when I saw it. I know that doing that is popular as you don't have to stay until midnight to see any of the cast
No, people are lining up now as the show starts to have a first spot for after-show stage dooring. These people who line up early have caused some controversy as it's been said (namely, by Renee Elise Goldsberry) that they often have sing-alongs. Very loud sing-alongs that the cast can hear on stage.
I saw the show last winter and even though I stagedoored, so many people were waiting out there already that I was in the third row and didn't get photos with anyone I wanted to, do you think it would be acceptable to stagedoor it this weekend?

I showed up for the stage door at 10:15 after an 8:00 show and had no trouble getting to the front of the crowd, although it's probably gotten crazier since the Tonys. Good luck!!!

Omg that's so bad- I can't believe people actually disrupt the show like that! I will probably end up going 1-1.5 hours before the show ends as idk if I can wait that long. Maybe I'll just walk by the theater a few times and when it starts to become crowded I'll get my spot.

Oh awesome- that's about when I was planning on going anyways. Were you close enough to get photos then? Also when did u see the show (I know in late 2015/early 2016 stage doors were a lot less busy)

I saw the show in late April, and I was close enough where I got a picture with Rory O' Malley and Chris Jackson. Lin also came out and they told us he wasn't doing pictures/selfies (though I got a selfie while Lin was signing).

When I was at if/Then in Philly over the weekend, I was talking to a girl at the stage door who lives in Manhattan and has seen Hamilton several times. She said she has met Lin more than once. She showed me a picture of the stage door from last Saturday night . It looked like it was taken from the Imperial stage door. . Let's just say it looked liked a wild outdoor concert with phones and hands up in the air .It was at least 10 rows deep and looked like it was going into the Lunt.

Oh cool! Do you also happen to know if you're allowed to drop packages/letters at the stage door?
