Really random story, but I was once at a billionaire's b-day party (I was being paid to line the "red carpet" and ask people for autographs, not a bad gig) and Ed McMahon signed "Me" for everyone instead of his name. It was a weird situation though, seeing as we were being paid to pretend to want their autographs, but we did want some of them (Oprah,Wayne Gretzky.)
Okay, really OT, but someone asked about signing only your name...

Why do we play with fire?
Why do we run our fingers through the flame?
Why do we leave our hands on the stove, although we know we're in for some pain?

When I'm famous, I'm going to sign "Yo."
Going along with the name signing topic...
It takes to much time to write my WHOLE name.

I get lost, unless, of course, I'm getting found.

Why do poeple get so annoyed when new people join and have questions? I just joined and people are like already snapping at me...its not like I knew that people had already discussed certain things.

Star--serious answer to your question...it doesn't bother me. I just don't click on things I don't want to read. The deal w/Wicked goes back to about a month ago, when every other question was someone asking a stupid question about the show, ignoring its substance and concentrating on stupid things (see SFM's post of questions, and my additions, and we're not kidding.) My response to this post was all in good fun. You'll quickly learn that we encourage the use of the "search" feature. I don't snap at people for posting questions, but searching is helpful. I don't like when new people get snapped at either, and I hope that you're not turned off by the attitude of a few and that you continue to post.

I dunno, Elphie-du-jour and Star-whomever...when I joined, before I jumped in with both feet, I checked the place out. Got the lay of the land, so to speak, before I started posting. To join a theater board and ask if anyone has seen Wicked almost A YEAR after it opened is just a little bit clueless.
And for the record, the bashing is usually more about the posts than it is about the show. There was a time....peaking concurrently with the Tonys...when the main board almost imploded with Wicked-is-Awesome threads. At this point, it's just like a Pavlov's dog kind of thing. I've said anything serious I might have ever had to say about Wicked too many times, so all that's left is the sport. That's what it is, really....sport bashing....'cuz no one really cares that much anymore to do it with any real passion.
Ah, but I do have fond memories of the "slap" controversy. My, that was fun.

Thanks for the explanation I just didn't understand why everyone was being so nasty when I asked simple, not stupid, questions. I'm just trying to figure things and I thought that's what this type of thing was for. Thanks.

Um, what's with the attitude about CIVIL WAR Elphie and how did you know I'm a big fan of it if you are new? I was being defending you in my last post and I don't appreciate your gratitude.

uh Elphieinmyheart. I get the feeling that you might not be who you say you are. In fact I think it is highly suspicious that Mr. MattG has not been into this thread yet. But perhaps you are a 10 year old who has just recently seen wicked (and who apparently shoplifts bras).
So my dear you think you can get to Broadway. Well, let me tell you something. Broadway has no room for people like you. Not the Broadway I know. My Broadway takes people like you and eats them up and spits them out. My Broadway is the Broadway of Merman, and Martin, and Fontaine, and if you think you can build yourself up by knocking other people down... ...GOOD LUCK... Seinfeld

talking about "Civil War" reminded me of Wildhorn's "Jekyll and Hyde" concept recording and the great song:
THE WORLD HAS GONE INSANE
THE WORLD HAS GONE INSANE
David walked into the valley
With a stone clutched in his hand
He was only a boy
But he knew someone must take a stand
There will always be a valley
Always mountains one must scale
There will always be perilous waters
Which someone must sail
-Into the Fire

Thank you.
I just laughed harder at the title of this thread and the first post than I have laughed at anything in a good week.
I needed that.

What's Wicked? Is it a new play or something?

Not gonna lie, I'm waiting for something witty by Mr. G.
Stop being a good person and say something amusing. This thread has "Matt_G" written all over it!

He's too busy begging strangers to send him their bras for his really big rack.
