help me pick a play

HELP...I need to pick a play to take my 16 daughter and friend,
for her 16h birthday. I don't know about ANY of the
Broadway plays..(She has already seen RENT,and BEAUTY
and BEAST, and LIon KING)..
I would appreciate about 3 choices (due to availabity
of getting the tickets-I need tickets for 1/31 show
and some are already sold out-like HAIRSPRAY)

re: help me pick a play (Musical??)

Little Shop of Horrors would be great based on the demographics you've mentioned.

If not that, then you should try for 'Millie' (Probably sold out)

Avenue Q might be a bit advanced for 16 yr. olds, but that's subjective. I think they'd be fine... but some people are wierd.

I'm assuming that you're thinking of musicals even though you said plays...

re: help me pick a play

They'd probably love Wicked, if you can get tickets. That would probably be the biggest deal from your daughter's perspective. A couple of the major characters got their starts in Rent. Aida is probably also a safe choice, given what she has already seen. It's been around for a while and I'm not sure who is in it these days, but tickets to that would not be looked down upon, I'm sure. There is Gypsy Little Shop of Horrors. Avenue Q is terrific, but there is a fair amount of sexual content, somewhat raunchy, so that would depend on what you are comfortable taking your daughter and (key concept) her friend to see. I'd do it, but I then again, I also took my 15 year old to The Full Monty, so I may not be the best judge.

I consulted my 17-year-old who has seen all of shows in question. Her recommendations for you in order of preference, are: Wicked, Aida, Gypsy, Little Shop of Horrors or Thoroughly Modern Millie.

Let us know what you pick.

as a 16 year-old girl myself... I would agree with everyone on wicked and LSOH...but I would say that Avenue Q is not too mature and most teenagers would definitely like it, it's raunchy and so are teenagers.
you think you know but you have no idea.....

I doubt Millie will be sold out.
I'd go for: Wicked (hard to get tickets,) Thoroughly Modern Millie(fairly easy,) Mamma Mia! (probably the hardest to get tickets to,)or Gypsy (fairly easy.)

I'd definitely say LSOH, Hairspray, and Wicked.

Mamma Mia!
