but only if you have suitable and talented enough people to carry off the show - otherwise it's a waste

"...But Kungurtseva reels off multiple fouettes and the tape is stopped so she can take a bow. The Jester, an abomination introduced to Swan Lake in Soviet times, extorts applause from the audience. The cuts don't help the storytelling, the production is bare bones and they go for the '50s-style happy ending. The audience cheers like mad at the end. It's the Russian ballet, after all..."

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.

There's a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world full of dreams. Sometimes we're not too certain what's false and what's real. But we're seldom in doubt about what we feel.

From those choices... I would do mattress or the Oklahoma! revival version

If you have a smaller school, Into the Woods is always an option.
Strong male leads: Pirates of Penzance
Strong leads in both sexes: Suessical, maybe?
Dancers: Kiss Me Kate

It's not on the list, but if you can pull it off, I've done Into the Woods on that level and it turned out pretty well. I've done Mattress as well, it's alright, though not one of my favorite shows.

Wait so can you only do shows from this list, if so...

Matress because youve done alot of old shows the past couple of years...well ok Matress is actually older than How to Suceed and Hello Dolly, but I think most people would agree it has a newer feel.

From this list, I'd have to say mattress, if only because it's at least by a different Rodgers, and I think Show Boat would be extremely difficult to pull of with a high school, as it's just huge. (Of course, your high school might be a much more theatrically advanced bunch than mine was).

Then again, why not go really crazy and do something like, say, Hair!!!!!!!!!! Ooh, or The Wild Party (Lachuisa or Lippa, whichever! I'm sure all the parents would be thrilled!)

yeah.. From the list do Mattress. It's cheap, easy and FUNNNN!

*sings the opening number*

Anyway, don't do the Les Mis High School edition. I've seen two high schools do it and neither one did the show justice.

*I'm in love with a girl named Fred.. reasons must be clear...*

Pimpernel probably isn't a great choice for a high school show cause it's very 3-character orientated. The ensemble and minor characters really don't get alot to do. And in a high school show, everyone should get a go.

i'm doing it now, and i LOATHE it.

Its not on your list and might be a bit of UK thing but Summer Holiday, our cast are between the ages of 14 and 30 and all our under 18's are having a ball and besides it is about 8 virgins on a bus who have a heart attack if they even get to hold hands....how more age appropriate can you get?
