The umbrella is in the London production but from what i have heard it is not as big as Broadway. The lines that were swaped were "someone is up your chimney(enso.)and it isn't Santa Claus!(mary)"and in the OLC it was the other way round.I love the fact that Mary Poppins ends "Temper Temper".

Last time I've been there, which was early March there was no umbrella in London. Only some lights indicating its shape

I had the pleasure of seeing Mary Poppins on Broadway this past March and I absolutely loved it! I agree that the umbrella was a bit much, but I was thoroughly pleased with the cast (yes, i thought Ashley Brown was fantastic). The differences that I've noticed is... I have a few friends that have see the London production and other friends that have seen the NY production. The friends that have seen the London show despise the musical. They have nothing but awful things to say about it. Those that have seen it in NY adored the production. They really enjoyed it... as did I. Hope that helps and hopefully you'll enjoy the show!

PS I wasn't a huge fan of the CD when I first heard it either, but I definitely appreciated it more after I saw the show.

I saw the original London staging, followed by the Broadway version, and I have to say I'm glad they brightened up Jolly Holiday, because the original version was just too visually dull.

Another difference: in the original London version, one of the life-sized toys in "Temper, Temper" was a golliwog, but there wasn't one on Broadway, not surprisingly. Does the London version still have a golliwog? If you don't know what that is, see here:

I don't remember a Golliwog in London.

When the show was in Bristol, 'Temper Temper' had this AMAZING (slightly) mutilated baby doll costume that looked like something out of 'Silent Hill'. I loved it, but it was definitely terrifying and has definitely been removed, or at least made so much less scary that I don't notice it now. re: how does Bway 'Mary Poppins' differ from London 'Mary Poppins'?

I saw the OLC and it was the most brilliant production. It was gorgeous, and so well performed.

These changes do not make me happy.

I ask, why change something...when NOTHING was wrong with it?!

Now all I see are cute boys with short haircuts in a maze of their own...

I hate the fact that EVERYTHING has to be jolly for Mary Poppins! I thought the original staging for Jolly Holliday worked fine, cuz I personally thought the choreography and lighting brightened up the scene in the right amount and I just love the contrast between Mary&Bert's colour and the grey statues! Now is just seems like it wants to look like the film w/ the tea and all but somehow not really!
And for Temper Temper... I just LOVE this number, I think the scarier the scene is the mroe effective BUT obviously there are kids so they're gona get scared and cry so they have to change the staging BOO HOO! I personally don't find the original stagingin intimidating enough!
I think they shud keep the original staging and cut out songs from Mr. Bank and somehow make a duet of 'Being Mr/Mrs Banks'!

ANyway, Im so glad Scarlett's returning sadly I havent seen Lisa yet n wont hav the chance to re: how does Bway 'Mary Poppins' differ from London 'Mary Poppins'?
