If you could choose to be in the chorus of any Broadway show, which one would be your first choice? How about your last choice?
I think that my first choice would have to be Sweeney Todd. The show itself is a compelling piece of theatre, and the chorus is just as important to the telling of the ‘tale’ as the characters they sing of in third person. It’s like a greek chorus. The music is also extremely challenging both rhythmically and melodically.
My last choice would be: Wicked. I love the show, but I can’t seem to get to like the Shiz Students/Ozians at all. Though I'm sure things were intended this way, it seems that the chorus characters were all written to be unlikable, mobbish and narrow-minded in order to make Elphaba more likable and heroic. Plus, the chorus music—for me—pales in comparison to the solos, duets, etc.
First Choice: Chess. Without a doubt. Last Choice: Cats (IN HELL!)
There are some people in the world who say that writing stories, or composing music or dancing sparkly dances is easy for them. Nothing interferes with their ability to create. While I celebrate their creative freedom, a little part of me just wants to punch those motherf*ckers in the teeth...[tos]
one good thing about the wicked chorus- they get to wear amazing costumes! best: urinetown worst: cats; jesus christ superstar, i will never say "what's the buzz tell me what's-a happenin'" in my LIFE!
I would love to be in the chorus of Bat Boy, I imagine it would be a ton of fun. If I could do another show I have already been in I would pick Reefer Madness. How many times can you make your entrance as a reefer zombie, go into a swing dance number, followed by an orgy with a giant hookah that really used to be a lamp, and then emerge as angels complete with tin pie plate halos.
