Ok so I have been a follower on this site but I never wrote before so please don't shoot me. I know a lot of people on this bored are against Rent: School-Edition but my high school is doing it. We have been searching everywhere to find that Joanne black leather trench coat with the white print design on it and just don't know where to get it!! I tried google and that failed, and I did a search on here before writing on the walls and nothing turned up. So if anyone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it!!!
You can't buy it. It was made for the show & reproduction of it is illegal.

I'm not looking for identical but something along the lines of or similar to the original is what i'm going for.

Actually, TimeSquare3, I think that was one of Freddie Stewarts actual coats, and the production then made repros of it.
When Rent started, it had little costume budget, so a LOT of the OBC pulled from their closets...which is way Idina Menzel has the yellow and white stripped polo where none of the others have.

Take a black trench and put the white designs on it yourself, if you need to have a replica. Don't know how, but I'm sure you can figure something out.
I knew about Daphne's clothes being Mimi's costumes but not the other cast members.

The majority of the show was bought (or pulled from the actors' personal wardrobe) at the time. So good luck trying to find a clothing item that is now about 13 years old still on any store's shelf.
And of course what wasn't bought/pulled would have been custom built.
Why does it have to be "just like it"? This should be an incredibly easy show to design costumes for instead of just copying from the original.
In times like these, Salvation Army and other thrift shops are the way to go.

You could do what they do in the movie and out Joanne in the pant suit. One of the things I liked about the movie was the costumes.

husk_charmer, who is Freddie Stewart? Methinks you mean Fredi Walker.
You should be able to use any black leather long jacket. It's a jacket that she wears in that scene, not a trenchcoat.

YEs, Freddi Walker...apparently I've combined her and Gwen Stewart into one person.
