Posted: 8/20/03 at 4:07amconsidering she's now big and famous and will play millie until the show closes AND is being mentioned by everyone and their mama to star in every new show...have they bumped her up to above the title billing yet over at the marquis?

:)
No. She is still billed as "and introducing Sutton Foster as Mille" to the best of my knowledge.

re: re: re: la foster#3
Posted: 8/20/03 at 4:19amfrom what I gather judging from my meetings with her, people I know who have met hare, and people I know that 'see her around', is that Sutton loves what she does, isn't stuck up about it, and really doesn't give a damn about wether she is above the title, below the title, billed in chalk on the sidewalk..... etc.

Posted: 8/20/03 at 4:34amlol i know! she wouldn't raise an eyebrow if they scratched her name off all together (ok, maybe she would) but don't you think it's about time? i'm gonna laugh if two years from now i pop open the playbill and it still says "and introducing..." of course none of this probably will happen and i'm just talking nonsense, but i think it's funny.

Posted: 8/20/03 at 4:37amabove the title.. possibly. I do think, though, that she sould have VERY easily gotten her name below the title with star billing "starring Sutton Foster, Christian Borle, and Ben Davis" with absolutely no issue whatsoever. I mean, if Marissa Winokur and Heather Headley had it....

the new millie commerical#8
Posted: 8/20/03 at 8:51amthey are running the new MILLIE tv commericals now saying "catch the 2002 tony award winning star SUTTON FOSTER as millie"

The problem with putting a name above the title on a show is that, well, you then have to deal with refunds whenever the person attached to that name calls out sick. And that's just not a good thing. Especially if you have someone in the role for a very long time.

Posted: 8/20/03 at 11:33amI understand the producer's reasoning about star billing, but I think Sutton Foster has certainly made a name for herself with this performance. I think at this point it would add incentive to go see this show, and especially if Sutton stays on after Nov 2.

Posted: 8/20/03 at 6:40pmI wonder what Sutton will do next after her contract runs out? A revival, or perhaps she'll have a show written around her? I heard she and Hunter may be doing Lady Be Good for Encores...
re: re: re: re: re: re: la foster#15
Posted: 8/20/03 at 6:59pmShe will just continue to do Millie. Regionally. Stock. Dinner theater. 20th anniversary tour and revival. With the occasional part in an Encores concert.

Namo, namo, Namo.
We are talking about Sutton Foster and Thoroughly Modern Millie. Not Stephanie Mills and The Wiz.

Posted: 1/27/07 at 8:01pmI'm sorry, I just had to reply to this. Reading this thread put a smile on my face. Just reminiscing about how Sutton's career took off to where she is now. She truly is brilliant. She was such a starlet four years ago and now she's an icon. How long until she becomes legendary? ::sighs::

Posted: 1/27/07 at 8:12pmThe reason I like her is because she's true to her theater roots. She just loves theater. She doesn't care if she's the star or a secondary character or anything, and it shows. I walked passed her when I was in NYC and she seemed to be so nice and calm. You wouldn't have even known that you were standing next to a 3x Tony Award nominee.
