sorry if this is repeat, if it is just send me the link and ignore this
but i was wondering how the cast recording is now that the cd is officially out in stores
i recall hearing people complain about the pre ordered one that was released with different sound and technique problems, did those clear up with the official release?
and how is it in terms of the show? does it do it justice to the degree that it can?
Oh geez -- you should know better than to call a 'cast recording' a soundtrack.
How DARE you!
haven't see the show so can't answer that part of your querry, but the glitch seems to be in all versions, digital or hard copy.
And yea, it's a "cast recording". Trust me, that's a big deal for some people here.
It IS a big deal here because the "soundtrack" is the CD from the animated film, and I don't think that is what 3allthatjazz was referring to.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
Thank God. frontrowcentre2 finally changed his avatar.

k yea sorry guys, it's changed
I really don't know why I'm responding to this, but here are my thoughts on the CD, cut and pasted from another thread:
Well I bought the CD today and just finished listening to the whole thing. I'll start with the good stuff: I think that the whole cast sounds outstanding. Sierra, Sherie, Sean, Tituss, everyone just sounds great. The overture was especially enjoyable, and I liked being able to listen to the new arrangements of the familiar songs.
Unfortunatly I found most of the new material to be forgettable. The only standouts among the new songs were "I Want The Good Times Back" and "Her Voice". I thought "She's in Love" was bad. Brian D'Addario has a great voice, but the song is just not very memorable. I really feel sorry for Eddie Korbich, as he's stuck with one of the worst numbers in the show. "Human Stuff" wasn't too bad, but "Positoovity" was just awful. "The World Above" seems like a waste of a song, as it's too short, it doesn't seem to advance the plot and it's only purpose seems to be to give Sierra something to sing before "Part of Your World". Maybe it works better in the context of the show.
Most of Glenn Slater's lyrics are generic and don't mesh very well with the wonderful lyrics that Howard Ashman wrote. ("I'll make you obey/Till you do as I say" = HUH??)
Sherie Rene Scott's "Poor Unfortunate Souls" was by no means bad, but it seemed to lack some "umpphh" to it. I LOVED her on "I Want The Good Times Back", she sounded fabulous. I thought Norm Lewis and Jonathan Freeman were severely underused. Norm Lewis got half of one number and 2 very short reprises for goodness sake!
I'm glad I'm not the only person who noticed the little musical bits from Beauty and The Beast. To me, the last few notes of "Storm at Sea" sounds like the climactic notes of The Wolf Chase . And I could certainly hear Be Our Guest during the Les Poissons reprise.
I got a copy of the cast recording and I think that it is actually (in terms of sound) very good. It's not the GREATEST recording I ever bought, but I didn't notice any problems and I usually do!
Also I saw the show's second performance and thought it was really good OR at least POTENTIALLY really good. The main problem was that, it didn't seem that the cast was comfortable enough with their costumes and set (tech elements). I think that that problem is going to just get solved as they do the show and get more comfortable with it.
And the wheelies (wheelys?)...skates...just DROVE ME CRAZY. (there woudl be a beautiful moment at teh end of a song and then they lift their foot and skate off....it just felt like they kept breaking character to me (it wasn't....but it took me out of it).
If you have the chance to buy it, I would.
anyone know where it can be purchased?
I have the Broadway record and it's incredible, it's PERFECT
