Ok so has any else heard the 10 song fragments on the little women website? are they as unforgettable to anyone else as they are to me? I love sutton but I think she can do much better.
That being said, I'm still going to go see it and was wondering if anyone new if they were going to do a student rush, lottery, or standing room only policy?
thanks

Posted: 12/7/04 at 1:15pmI have actually seen the show and I love "almost" every single song. I didn't like one song but that is it. I have said it before, but "Astonishing" will be in every girl's musical repetoire along with "On My Own."

'I have said it before, but "Astonishing" will be in every girl's musical repetoire along with "On My Own."'
Tell me how that's a good thing.

I didn't say it was good, I was just stating a fact. lol.
But, I like that song..even though it is not the best song. The best song is "Somethings Are Meant to Be." I cried and cried and cried. God, it was beautiful.

I, of course, cannot make any sort of judgement on the show. I do know that I am not a fan of the song 'Astonishing'. If the rest of the show is at that level, I probably won't be a fan (but will still keep an open mind).
Some day, someone will put Sutton Foster in a brilliantly written show.
Till then, I wait in hope.

Posted: 12/7/04 at 1:26pmI think "Astonishing" was written to be the hit of the show. Like I said, it is not even close to being the best song.

Posted: 12/7/04 at 2:09pmI'm going to see this next weekend and can't wait. I had originally purchased tickets for mid January but there is no way I can wait this long. I think this will be a good show for women and families to see. And even if the music is forgettable, I would be willing to bet that Sutton's performance will most definately be memorable.

The music is not forgettable. And.....I have already said what I thought of Sutton's performance. I went in REALLY anticipating Sutton and left loving Maureen McGovern. But, Sutton is great too, but had her problems. But, she might have fixed it (even though I seem to be the only one that has come to this conclusion).

Posted: 12/7/04 at 4:00pmTrust me. The songs on the website does not do it justice.

Posted: 12/7/04 at 4:14pmumgeoboy, there are student rush tickets sold for $30 at 10 AM on the day of the performance. Two are available per person.

Posted: 12/7/04 at 4:17pmI have to agree with robbiej on this one. I saw Sutton Foster sing this at Broadway on Broadway and could only say to myself "what were they thinking?"...I didn't like anything about the song itself. I can only hope there are other qualities about the show to make it likeable.

Posted: 12/7/04 at 4:20pmredhot, you will LOVE LOVE LOVE Maureen McGovern. Go just to see her. She is amazing. and the beach scene with Beth and Jo is alone worth the price of the ticket.

Posted: 12/7/04 at 4:31pmI saw the show in North Carolina and believe it or not, it's pretty good. It's quite a tour de force for Sutton -- I liked her performance in this much more than I liked her in Millie. I was very iffy about this show, but ended up enjoying it. Although Astonishing isn't really memorable on the sample track, it blows you away in the theatre -- and "Some Things Are Meant to Be" makes the show (the duet between Megan McGinnis and Sutton). There were definitely some kinks that they needed to work out in North Carolina, but hopefully they did and the show will be a hit.

I'm seeing it next week and I am beyond excited. When I heard about it my first thought was "Little Women the musical? BLEH" But I watched the rehersal video on Broadway.com and found myself humming some of the melodies afterwards. So I watched it again and decided I needed to see it. I'm quite excited. Seats are in row J as well. :) Closest I've sat in a long time.
Where is the stage door at the Virginia Theater? I'd like to get an autograph from Sutton or a picture if that is at all possible.

Posted: 12/7/04 at 5:43pmOh I LOOOOOOOVE Days of Plenty. Oh I was a sight at the press sneak peek. I hate to admit I work on the show and hadn't heard anything but Astonishing before that day. The tears just started rolling down my cheeks. It was beautifully, beautifully done.

Posted: 12/7/04 at 5:49pmDid you hear "Somethings Are Meant to Be," Heather. I think that is the most moving song in the whole musical.
