We are in search of songs, preferably upbeat and pre-1960, that fit the 'vixen' type character. i.e. "Whatever Lola Wants". Any other ideas out there? Needed for college auditions/musical theatre major.
You could look at the whole Eartha Kitt oeuvre--"Monotonous" etc...

My Handy Man by Alberta Hunter (sometimes called My Handy Man Ain't Handy No More)
A blue song that really is Blue-
"he Greases my griddle, he trims my lawn...My man is such a HANDY man! My ice never gets a chanc to melt away cuase he gives me a nice fresh piece each day...My man, is such a Handy Man!"
When I saw "vixen songs", my first thought was "Lost And Found" from City of Angels. But as long as you're looking for something pre- 1960, does "Lazy Afternoon" count as a vixen song?

"Gypsy in Me" by Cole Porter, if I remember it correctly.
I'd Be Suprisingly Good for You from Evita
What about Sooner or Later from Dick Tracy? Not necessarily a musical theatre song, but it's by Sondheim and it's in Putting it Together, so there you go.
