Sorry about posting another thread about this but...I have searched & found many threads about lotteries but most of them were pretty old & I want some current info.
How many people have been showing up to the Hairspray lottery these days? Did they move the seats to front row??
How are Wednesday matinees & evenings these days? Do a lot of people show up?
Which shows do I have a chance with? I want to see Spelling Bee.

Posted: 11/18/05 at 9:47pmSpelling Bee tends to have a lot of people, because their lotto is held an hour after most of the other theaters, so all the losers come over to try their luck there. If you really want to see it, you're better off getting SRO tickets.
Wanting life but never knowing how

"Wapner, Wapner, Wapner."
If you search on Playbill.com they have all the info in detail.
There are lotteries for tickets to several shows. (Rent, Avenue Q, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Spelling Bee, Wicked, and Hairspray)
These are held near two hours before showtime, it depends on the show. You generally have 30 minutes to put your name and either 1 or 2 tickets on a slip, and then at the two hour mark they draw a limited number of winners.
Those winners pay between $20 and $25 a ticket for seats at the show that evening. Most of the shows offer front row tickets as the "lotto prize."

I was answering Bwayfanmom's question.
The answer to your question is, if your heart is absolutely set on seeing a certain show, get tickets some other way. Although Hairspray and DRS are on TKTS sometimes, so you could lotto first and buy cheaper tickets if you don't win.
The smaller lottos have been near 100 people for the 20 or so seats this week, the larger ones closer to 300.
