lyrics in INTO THE WOODS

so i just saw a production of INTO THE WOODS here in LA... excellent excellent production IMO... and one thing i was wondering... in the OBC recording of the show, He's A Very Nice Prince, sung by Cinderella and the Baker's Wife was longer... but then on the DVD it's much shorter... like a verse or something... then went i saw the production last night, they used the full song from the OBC recording? did something happen on the pro shot video? just curious...

I'm pretty sure the part you're talking about -- the part that echoes the "sensitive, clever..." line from "Agony" and "It Takes Two" -- was cut. It's never been in any production I've done/seen. I don't think it's in the published score, either, so they must have added it back specially for that production.

The lines in question (along with some of the Witch's "Lament") were cut from the original Broadway production in previews but Sondheim agreed to have the sections included on the OCR.

Stratford Festival's production also restores these segments leading me to guess that they can be obtained from MTI on request.

A verse from "Any Moment" is still missing.

The video of the Broadway production of WOODS is complete. So is SUNDAY IN THE PARK. SWEENEY TODD is complete as to what was on stage in the tour but the Tooth-pulling sequence and "Parlour Songs" were both dropped from the tour.
