Of course. It'll bring in more money. There's an all-star cast to record it. People expect one.
Look at Rent. We pretty much already had that soundtrack, aside from some cuts and the addition of two new actresses, but it still happened.
Also, I think they're adding in an ABBA song that's not already in the show, specifically for the film.

Yeah, I heard "When All Is Said And Done" is being added in. I'm guessing for Meryl. It's gonna be killer.

They're usually released a week before the movie opens in theaters.

What multi-million dollar wide release film DOESN'T release a soundtrack?

Yes, there will be a film soundtrack for the film-version of MAMMA MIA! -- not a NEW one but the only one (the current English language recording is the London Cast recording... which is NOT a soundtrack).
It is expected to be released in late June/early July 2008.
