Uhhh, I've seen Jodi live twice now (one was a concert that was ALL her, for about 2 hours), and once in Chicago last summer and she sang with Debbie Gravitte and another woman (I can never remember who) and Jodi was amazing and pitch perfect both times. I'm really really really sensitive to pitch too, so I would notice.
Jodi is one of the most amazing singers I've ever seen, and I'm proud to say she came from Rockford, and that she is the reason I'm a musical theatre performer to begin with.
I think you should see her again before you write her off as someone with pitch problems.

Posted: 6/28/06 at 4:29pmI saw Jodi Benson three times in CRAZY FOR YOU. All three times she had trouble finding--and sustaining--her pitch. In fact, FORBIDDEN BWY did a parody of her.

Well Crazy for You was in 1992, and I've seen her once in 2003 and once in 2005, so it could possibly be that she has fixed that problem.
and she sounds fantastic on the Crazy For You recording, and of course the Little Mermaid and Thumbelina :) so I'm still a fan.

I like listening to Marin Mazzie on recordings, and she has done good work onstage, but I'm not sure she has the acting chops for PIAZZA. I think she would make a fine Desiree. I think it suits her more than Margaret.
And while Audra may not have the same hair color as Inga Swenson, I think she may give a comparable, historic rendering of that role.

Posted: 6/28/06 at 5:18pmI just wanted to add that I adore Marin, and she's one of my favorite performers, particularly vocally. She just seems to have an incomprarable stylistic range (no to mention the most amazing belt).
