Saw it tonight and really enjoyed it.
I'm not tough to please, I loved Woman in White, Aida, etc.
But really, it is not this little piece of crap the reviews described. The story is super weak, it just doesn't have enough heart or purpose to captivate you completely. BUT it is very entertaining and exciting, with cool effects, gorgeous orchestrations, interesting set designs, etc. It was a very dark, mysterious, eerie feeling throughout and that's totally up my alley. All the peripheral details are strikingly awesome, its just not a riveting story.
Cast is tremendous. I say go see it for sure. I'm so thankful I did.

Posted: 5/21/06 at 10:47pmI think the score is fine and the cast is amazing but the musical is trying to cram six books into a two and a half hour musical. It's just way too much. Regardless, the show is not as bad as everyone said it is.

What's to say? The Palace Theatre will soon be free and this amazing cast will all be in new (and hopefully better ) shows soon. May Linda Woolverton and Robert Jess Roth never be allowed to practice their "art" on Broadway again. May Elton John put a litttle more time into his next score. And may the great Bernie Taupin return to his area of considerable expertise: pop.

It's actually only trying to cram her first two vampire books (Interview and Vampire/Lestat), not the first six... It was originally also including the third (Queen of the Damned), but I think they realized that even the two was a bit too much and cut it.
