has anyone seen the new lion king commercial that just came out? it's AWESOME...i think the phrase used is "i just can't wait to see king"
they use some of the tribal rhythms from the show and there is a really gorgeous shot of alton fitzgerald white in full costume waiting in the wings.
keep an eye out for it!

I was shocked when I saw it, both that it was actually good and second, that they needed to do a commercial to promote the show...
But seriously, a very good commercial that even had me interested in checking it out.

Posted: 10/26/06 at 5:18pmIt doesn't show of the show. The camera work may be interesting, but the commercial mostly shows a little girl in a cab and going into the theatre with her parents. The people who don't see musicals (but do see Lion King) often don't go to see the beauty of the theatr. At least I don't think they do.

JV92, I get what you are saying, but I think it is sad if people are attracted by just the outside of the theatre and not what is inside. This makes me want to put up a sign outside a theater that says "FrEe SeX" and when they walk in they strapped into a chair and made to watch Long Day's Journey Into Night or The Pillowman in repretory.
All kidding aside, I really think people would be drawn by the visuals of The Lion King if the comemercial showed them. Right now I just want to ask the kids what day are they going to the show and then buy tickets to a different performance.
