I am looking at putting together a review of great songs from recent musicals to show the "old Sticklers" for the old greats what is fresh and new.
Folks feel free to list your top five newish songs that would be possibles for this show.
I do not want it to be dark and depressing though!

'We Can Do It' from "The Producers"
It has the 'feel' of an old broadway showtune....for me anyway

"Suppertime" & the show "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" were written in the '60's (the show ran for several years off-Broadway) -- the production that that played on Broadway a few years ago was a revival.
By the way, not to be picky, but in this context it's "revue" not "review."

Seasons of Love from Rent (unless mid-90's is too old)
You Can't Stop the Beat from Hairspray
Anything from The Producers or Millie

Who has bad things to say about Honk!? Why hasn't it reached Broadway yet, by the way?
"Different" is just one of many songs from that show that fall into this category, actually. How about "Now I've Seen You" or "Every Tear A Mother Cries"?
