Does anyone know if they are going to record a new threepenny opera cd? thanks for any info you may have
p.s. the cast is phenominal!
I don't believe one has been announced...
I could check a magic eight ball though...
I hope they make a new cast recording this cast is incredible!
When has Roundabout ever let us down? They gave us the fabulous new recording of The Pajama Game and I have confidence they will record Threepenny as well!
I really hope so. The cast is so great and I love anything that features Anna singing (I think I have watch RMadness way too many times!)
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofuWell, it's not Roundabout that actually produces the CD...
I know. I'm just basing it on the past few seasons of musicals done at Roundabout...they all seem to have gotten recordings (even if they were all on different labels).
I am anxiously awaiting an announcement for a recording...I don't see how the opportunity of a new "Threepenny" recording could be passed up, especially with such a phenomenal cast. The vocals and orchestrations going on at Studio 54 are just wonderful.
At this point, I think it all depends on a label stepping up to the plate and offering to pay. Benefactors would certainly help, as always. I wish McKay or Lauper could arrange something with one of their labels.
PS Classics has stepped in to save the day with many recordings before and maybe they will do the same this time.
Keeping my fingers crossed...
Perhaps...An online petition! hehe.
It partially is the responsibility of Roundabout's. They have put up partial money before to get their cast recordings produced. So hopefully some weathly benefactor will do it again.

Concerning the THREEPENNY recording, here's a comment from a member of the cast:
"so many people have asked - and I have no idea... I believe an outside source would have to option it - and the Weill Foundation would have a LOT of control... it may or may not happen - I really don't know."
~~Brian Charles Rooney
Wow that really sucks. I hope something comes through.
Well I will be there for the last performance. If we dont get a CD announcement you better believe I am making a bootleg recording.
