Glee is pretty misogynistic. The female characters basically only exist to be love interests and they're either Madonnas or Whores. They also make a lot of rape jokes. Not to mention that Brittany being promiscuous is disturbing given her cognitive capacity but the show treats it like a joke.

"Hasn't happened yet with Modern Family...and I'm STILL upset that Kurt from Glee beat Cam from Modern Family at the Golden Globes."
Me too. Stonestreet is hillarious on "Modern Family" and Colfer is nowhere near as good of an actor as him.
"Nip/Tuck" too was a very misogynistic show. I guess that's Ryan Murphy's wheelhouse?
It really was, although I think people have pretty fairly argued that he doesn't tend to show men in a much better light...
Yeah. I think the biggest complaint about Murphy is that just about ALL of his characters, male and female, are horribly unlikable. It worked extremely well on Nip/Tuck and you still couldn't stop watching them.
He's good for some good trashy, soapy shock and some well written scenes every now and then, but the same character inconsistencies and dropped storylines are what killed Nip/Tuck and appeared to have killed Glee around part 2 of season 1. It's like they can't ever be bothered to clear up a subplot. It drives me nuts. I mean, as an aspiring screenwriter, I just don't get it. I believe in suspense and ambiguity of course, but he never explains them. I remember watching the finale of Nip/Tuck with my mouth wide open and saying to my friends "They still haven't cleared up this, that, etc." It feels lazy to me.
I'm never sure if what I don't like about Glee is the acting, the singing, the writing, or a mix. The only regular actor I think gives a consistently good performance is Jane Lynch. It just seems like a perfect fit for her. Love her to death!
They also pick some strange songs. It almost seems like the actors just request songs to perform even if they don't fit in the plot. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the "Rose's Turn" debacle. I find Colfer to be one of the least offensive actors on the show. He's quite funny and I don't mind his voice as much as a lot of other people do, but that musical number was laughably horrible. The high kicks, the falsetto...everything just felt wrong. I still think they should have given that song to Sue. It seemed unmotivated for Kurt.
And yes, Jessalyn Gilsig is amazing! Gina was one of my favorite Nip/Tuck characters.
