it raved over LJONES and that closed in a matter of minutes, raved for BLoody Bloody and that died a quick death as well. raves for Peter and that is barely holding on. Does it have the power anymore to make or break a show as it once did? (ie: wicked a famous review)
No...those days are gone. Now we have access to all news sources (and reviews) as well as popular opinion.
I think SOMETIMES it can help or be the nail in the coffin -- but have a turn aroundd one way or another? Nope.
(and this has come up in recent months, I'm sure there are other threads on it.)

I think it probably has the power to stomp the life out of a wounded puppy, but it does not have the power to transform that puppy into a Best of Show winner.

hmm i think you are right. I think theater people put much stock in it but the average public listens to usa today, wall street journal, even most NYkers read the daily news and ny post. interesting.
