What? It's a lyric...what do you mean how does it have relevance to the show? It sums up the characters feelings...

I'm going to be wounded. I am going to open up myself to hurt and pain by opening myself up to you.

These are rock lyrics. Ya gotta interpret them, and you might not have the same answer as the author.

That was random.

I agree. Um, it has relevance to SA because it is in SA! So even if he pulled the lyric out of his ass, which I wouldn't doubt, it is related to the show no matter what.

If it makes sense or not, which I'm sure is your question, I guess as others have said, it depends upon the interpretation. They are suspicious of what they might be opening themselves up to and can predict they might get hurt by the other.

I've always felt those lyrics address the fact that these kids are growing up in a time when they've been taught that sex is a dirty, awful, bad thing. By indulging in it anyway, they're assuming they'll "be wounded."

Personally, I think it's beautiful. Lyrics are (or at least sometimes are) poetry. They're not always literal.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of the show. But that might be the dumbest song I've heard in a long time.... I really hate that song. And they use it 3 freakin' times.... sheesh

It's called interpreting a song.

I actually think it's one of the better lyrics in SA. Some of them are just plain horrible, but that one is really poetic.

While we're on the subject of lyrics here, what do we all think of "We've all got our junk and my junk is you." What do you guys think it means?

a hang up
my girlfriend today said she though about me 24/7 (she had written it in her creative journal for dance class)
if something is constantly on your mind or in the back of your head or around you, reminding you, holding onto you, you might call it "unk"
"we've all got our junk" (bills, deadlines, money [lack-there-of], drugs ect.) "and my junk is you" (which twists the word into something sweet)

You're reminding me of people you hear at the movies asking questions every ten seconds, "Who is that? Why is that guy walking down the street? Who's that lady coming up to him? Uh-oh, why did that car go by? Why is it so dark in this theater?" - FindingNamo on strummergirl

"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor

"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl

"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott

i actually thought it took on a dual meaning. that because she told the other girls that she's being beaten everyday that she's going to be wounded (more) by her father. and then when she talks about opening up her wounds it means she's finally going to allow herself to cry and face it.

i don't think the lyrics are dumb at all. in fact, i'd even venture to say the girl who sings them is the best vocalist in the show.
