oh, this kid made my day...

aawww...::tear:: makes me so proud to be a theatre queen. There is still hope, somewhat, for this upcoming generation.

My mom and dad saw it in SF (they live in Sacramento) and they absolutely loved it. They are in their late 60s and just retired and my mom said it was the best show she had seen since RAGTIME.

I want to cry...the little boy...it's so perfect!!!

my younger brother went to some of the shows when they played in chicago and he loved it ... took my older brother to mamma mia this summer and he said he would go back not right away but eventually would ... im just happy for that!!

Don't you think a ten year old will have some trouble digesting Wicked? It's a little mature.

Oh and Namo...just because a ten year old boy likes musicals doesn't mean he's gay. When I was ten I loved musicals. In fact I even used to act them out in my backyard and force my parents to watch. Oh....umm...wait a minute...nevermind...

I had the same thought when I heard "ten year old boy" and "wants to read Wicked" in the same sentence. The content of Wicked is a little bit mature for a child of that age. For one thing, the sexual language is quite um....frank in parts. Don't get me wrong, I loved the book and the story is quite amazing. I just don't know that I'd let my ten year old child read the book alone. I think I'd do the reading and skip over those parts as I think I'd have some problems reading words like "c*ck" aloud to a child of that age.

Secondly, Namo, just because a young boy likes musicals does not mean he's gay! That's a pretty sad remark. I know plenty of young boys who've been involved in regional theatre where I live and have watched them grow up into heterosexual men. But wahtever - gay, straight, I'd love them all just the same anyway.

Hope springs eternal for the next generation.

An ex-friend of mine c. 1990 had a under-ten year old nephew whose favorite films were THE WOMEN and GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES.

I have no desire to ever see my ex again, but I DO wonder what his nephew is up to.

My friend directs regional theatre here and has a 4 and 2 year old. They sing "Both Rreached For the Gun" toghether.

Dylan, the four year old, says "Sing with me, Erik! Where'd ya come from?" Erik sings, "Mittittippi!" It's quite funny.

Dylan is also a fan of "The Horse, Paul Revere" and sings it from beginning to end. He's also a fan of "Another Pyramid".

Broadway...If that comment was directed to me I didn't say "a child shouldn't" and I agree that it has to do with maturity. Again, I'm saying that 'right now' I don't think I'd be comfortable with exposing my ten year old to the frank sexual language. Who knows? I may change my mind when I actually DO have kids.
