I think that most kids who know anything about Broadway are culturally more mature than others. I'm sure they can handle Wicked.

Kids today are growing up very quickly (somewhat unfortunately) and I agree with the above post.

Hopefully this child won't be expecting the musical to really be like the book, because there were a lot of differences between the two. Not that this will necessarily improve or decrease the child's experience with either, but...

Well, the worst that can happen is the kid will complain about the show dropping subplots from the novel. "WHO dramaturged this thing?"

Just make sure the kid skips the part when Fiyero wakes up and takes in great detail of Elphaba's baby maker...
Besides I can beat that. My 6 yr old sister knows all the lyrics to "A Step Too Far".
