ok so license is available now
re: ok so license is available now#2
Posted: 7/6/05 at 11:19amWell, its restricted for right now. But I'm sure that ppl will be trying it when the restriction comes off. Why do they have the restriction on some shows when they come out?

Posted: 7/6/05 at 11:31amIt's more a PR thing for the licesning house. Sort of a "look what we've aquired for all our customers" thing. I'm pretty sure the show won't be available for actual production for at least a couple of years.

Posted: 7/6/05 at 6:00pmMy director just called MTI a few weeks ago to inquire about both "The Producers" and "Thoroughly Modern Millie", and they told him they both will not be available for production for at least a 2 years....

Posted: 7/6/05 at 6:02pmThen how come a couple of theatres just did Millie?
re: ok so license is available now#8
Posted: 7/6/05 at 6:03pmI'm just going by what MTI told us.... perhaps those were professional theatres, and the amatuer rights are not out yet...
re: ok so license is available now#9
Posted: 7/6/05 at 6:08pmI believe a high school did it though...

Posted: 7/6/05 at 6:11pmNot sure then... I just know our director called and inquired about "Millie" and "The Producers"... and we were told 2 years. We are in central Connecticut though... where were the productions you heard about? Because I know there are rules sometimes about a certain number of miles away from Broadway...

Posted: 7/6/05 at 6:13pmThe only one I heard was an L.A. high school...
re: ok so license is available now#12
Posted: 7/6/05 at 6:14pm...MILLIE can be licensed to Equity houses but not to non Equity. The tour that is coming out is a non Equity tour. If a high school did the show then they did it very illegally and should be turned in.

Posted: 7/6/05 at 6:18pmThis has been listed in their print catalog for quite some time now. It's restricted.
re: ok so license is available now#14
Posted: 7/6/05 at 6:48pmThe school that did MILLIE was a very well known and respected performing arts high school in Hollywood. They probably received special permission. Certainly they didn't do it illegally.

Posted: 7/6/05 at 6:51pmNo they didn't do it illegally! The director knows someone connected with the show (possibly the writer?, I forget the exact connection) - also one of their alumi who choreographed the show for them actually u/s Sutton on Broadway straight out of high school, so the school had that going for it too.
