I'm interested to know the people you would love to see as characters on broadway. Mine are these 2:
Anneliese van der Pol(from That's So Raven) as Elphaba. She has such a talent and I could see her playing a pretty decent Elphaba.
Fantasia as Celie in The Color Purple. Watching her act in her movie reminded me a lot of that character. She has lived a lot of Celie's life. Oh and not to mention she could sing the mess out of that score.
Who else do you guys think could play different characters on broadway?
I agree about chelsie(don't feel like spelling her long ass name) you can tell she's a theatre girl. and she's so much better than that god awful show.
I would like to see megan hilty as cathy in the last 5 years
Lauren ambrose as maureen in rent
Brian stokes mitchell as the phantom
and as crazy as it sounds
i would like to see norbert as billy in chicago

This is a common view that some people had I think:
Jack Black as Freddy in DRS
and a weird one
Kathy Bates as Mama Rose (She just seems so forceful)

I could see Larisa Oleynik as Eponine in Les Mis. She played young Cosette in the San Francisco production.
I think Deb Messing would be a hialrious Christine in DRS
and in that vein... I'd love to see Megan Mullaly as The Drowsy Chaperone lol. (or anything where she gets to sing!!!!!!!!!)
I have to disagree about Anneliese van der Pol(from That's So Raven) as Elphaba, I could see her more as Glinda, especially if she bases her portrayal of Glinda similar to her portrayal as Chelsie(sp?)
I agree with you juice23 on Megan as The Drowsy Chaperone.
I also think that Fantasia as Celie would be ideal.

I'll go out on a limb and say Megan Mullally as Mrs. Lovett. I'll go out on a further limb and say Megan Hilty as Mrs. Lovett in 20 years.
I agree with Megan Mullally as Mrs. Lovett, although we're not likely to see another Sweeney revival for awhile. For me, the chaperone character is too close to Karen Walker on Will & Grace; I wouldn't want to see her take on that role. How about her as Mame?

I can see maybe Daniel Reichard as Leo Bloom in The Producers.
This is a weird one but maybe Michael Cerveris as Tommy Devito in Jersey Boys.

Kim Fields "Sunday in The Park With George", The Bernadette Peters character.
Diana Ross Nora Desmond "Sunset Boulevard"
Will Smith Bert "Mary Poppins"
Also would love to see a black male play "Stanley Kowalski" in "Street Car Named Desire."
I've said it for awhile now, but I really think Beth Leavel could pull off Muriel Eubanks. Not happening anytime soon...
And I think Alma Cuervo would be a good Drowsy Chaperone.
