From his Q&A on Broadway.com:
Could you see yourself doing Oliver! or My Fair Lady in New York?
Oliver! was never going to come here. My Fair Lady is coming, but not with me. Strangely enough, I had to make a decision between Scoundrels and My Fair Lady. They don't coincide, but I didn't want to do this for six or seven months, take a short break, and then do nine months of My Fair Lady. I wanted to do this one. Of course, I loved My Fair Lady; it's probably the best experience I've had in terms of a musical that goes between dialogue and songs.
So... Fall of 2006??

Posted: 1/17/06 at 1:02pmYes, the CML revival from a few years ago is (or was) touring the UK and is headed for Broadway. On the whole it's a great production, but I don't know if the tour is a scaled down version or what they're planning for Broadway.

Posted: 1/17/06 at 1:07pmWoow, I've never had the pleasure to see MFL done on the stage, not even an amateur production--I did enjoy the film and I would absolutely love for this to come back to Broadway!

Like OMG -- Do you think that at the end of Act 1, Eliza, with a long flowing cape, will rise above the stage?! BETTER YET; what about if Eliza was painted in GREEN?!
Hehe. In a world of "Wicked", it'd be nice to do something different (and better).

My admiration for Peter Filichia notwithstanding (longtime readers of his columns will know what I'm talking about), My Fair Lady is probably my least favorite musical from the golden era. It's easily an hour too long and absolutely drags through the last half hour of the first act.
And for crying out loud, could we please have a Henry Higgins that SINGS the songs for once?

Or better yet, what if everyone else is green and can fly, and its Henry's job to convert Eliza into a witch who can speak clear english?
he he... oh we can dream

Posted: 1/17/06 at 4:19pmOurtime992, Jonathan Pryce did sing the score in the London. His performance was one of the few things I liked in an overblown production that sapped all the warmth and intimacy out of the show.

I thought Cameron Mackintosh said that it wasn't coming.

Posted: 1/17/06 at 5:27pmMY FAIR LADY is a virtually perfect show, right alongside GYPSY, GUYS AND DOLLS, and FIDDLER. Pryce is wonderful casting as Higgins and got rave reviews in the show ... does anyone have the cast recording he and Martine McCutcheon did?
