Somethingwicked, you took the words right out of my mouth re Krtizer. It's a beautiful performance but not 'the one' to get her the gold. I'm also going to agree with Walt about Bundy, Elle Woods was pretty much tailored for her in every way and many, many are still scratching their heads over the nomination alone.

I absolutely agree with Orfeh. I'm basically going to list a ton of LB performers(past and present) that could take the Tony in a stronger show(even though I love LB)
-Orfeh
-LBB
-Annaleigh Ashford
-Nikki Snelson
-Leslie Kritzer
-Richard H. Blake
Also, I really love Merle Dandridge. She's just amazing and needs to get handed a better role than some part in Tarzan.
i totally agree except LBB because she should have gotten a tony for her role as elle.
i have feeling that leslie kriter will get nominated...crossing my fingers.
i wish they had a replacement role nomination....annaleigh will be there. tracy kai edwards for serena.
they should honor the broadway kids somehow....i wish they will let them perform.

She's been nominated 3 times (and IMO should have won one of those)
Ms. Marin Mazzie.

Drew Sarich was the first to come to mind, and Stephanie J. Block.
I've been mesmorized by them both a few times and had this exact thought!

Orfeh was the first person I thought of. I still believe she should've recieved one this year, just saying. Andy Karl as well, after seeing his performance as Emmett, I am dying to see him play a role written for him and his many talents.

Yes Marin Mazzie! How does she not have a Tony. I definitely second Sherie Rene Scott and Kelli O'Hara. O'Hara is so young. She will definitely get her due (South Pacific, anyone?).
Now if we could just get Ms. McDonald a damn leading actress Tony!

It is a crime that Rachel York does not have a Tony.

I for one am a huge Ashley Brown fan. I think in the future if she finds the right project that isn't Disney related, she could be an amazing contender.

I personally don't agree with Richard Blake, but hey...
Definitely:
Matthew Morrison (hopefully he'll be in that leading category soon too)
Stephanie J. Block
Christian Borle (the perfect balance of comedy and singing and minus the fact he wasn't nominated for Spamalot)
Michael Beresee
Marc Kudisch
Shoshana Bean
Philip Quast
and I don't agree with the triple threat thing. I think if you excel in one, you definitely have a greater chance. For example, how much dancing did you see Lea Salonga do in Miss Saigon? Sorry, she's just a favorite of mine and I can't dance haha. Of course there are always those character actors that cant reallly sing but have good comedic roles that win the musical Tony which takes away from the singers in the show. But I realize there can't be a separate category for them either. I think for me personally singing is most important but its obviously impressive if they've got it all. And I don't think it would take a triple threat to play Elphaba. Millie Dillmount, yes. But there is no intense dancing in Wicked that someone who took dance lessons couldn't handle.

Alice Ripley
Sherie Rene Scott
Laura Benanti
and for me - Kate Shindle. She gave a performance on the Cabaret tour that I wished someone could have handed her a trophy for. Somebody find the woman a freaking role.

ah - love this question. My first choice would be:
J. Mark McVey,
then - Marc Kudisch,
Kerry Butler (maybe this year she will),
Rachel York

She's in the same spot as Marin Mazzie. They each have three nominations with no wins. Seriously how do these two not have Tonys?

Rachel York absolutely! She has given Tony worthy perfs in so many shows: Victor/Victoria (criminal that she wasn't even nominated), Scarlet Pimpernel, Kiss Me, Kate, Dessa Rose at LCT, Ragtime at Paper Mill, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and most recently Camelot on tour. But because she's either been a replacement or done these shows other than on B'way, the trophy has eluded her.

Norm Lewis. When I saw him in Side Show, I thought he was a major contender for a Tony. I was really surprised that he didn't even get nominated. He certainly deserved to.

I know a lot of people disagree with me but this is why I think they should have a best replacement category. You could be the most amazing actor/actress but never originate a role.
