Posted: 8/5/05 at 12:02pmIt would be a wonderful thing, but for some reason, I'm not sure if the material would sell anywhere else. I've not heard or read any mention of it being seriously considered, but for the sake of the people who can't get to NYC - I wish they would tour it. It demands to be seen.

Currently AWA Touring Services has it listed as a show they plan to tour.

BobbyBubby, I have not seen TLITP.
Why would it do better in regional theaters than big commercial houses?

Bring it back to Chicago!

It's not a commercial show. It's an intimate evening suited for a small to medium house. Many tour houses are gigantic in size, and feature an audience probably not into what Piazza has to say. It'd be smart to find regional theatres to tour to, where audiences will be more receptive.
I love Piazza to death, but it's just not the kind of spectacle (though the sets are impressive) that most audience's require.

Posted: 8/5/05 at 1:45pmPiazza does have a rather large set. Could a regional Theatre really handle the set?
#9re: piazza tour????
Posted: 8/5/05 at 1:46pmI'm sure they'd have to scale it down. Even in a big commercial theatre, they'd have trouble traveling with all that stuff.

it will take more than just rescaling it. restaging it and creating sets that would work in a proscenium space would require going back to the drawing table.
tour or no tour, this show is going to have a strong life in regional theaters and opera houses.

Posted: 8/6/05 at 2:29amI can't imagine this show going on a major tour. In many places it would be impossible to sell. Unless of course they cast Ruth Buzzie or such as Margaret.

Posted: 8/6/05 at 3:14amNot only is that a terrible idea, but who in the world would go see a show to see Ruth Buzzie?

Posted: 8/6/05 at 4:21amthey could use a set like the one used in chicago. still beautiful, but not quite as 3-d as the current set.

I wish it would on tour, but agree that it would not sell well in some areas. I know around here the only shows people go to see are "Annie" and "Cats." I'd go though, so there's one seat that would be sold
.

Posted: 8/6/05 at 2:56pmThey could do a select city tour to the cities where it WOULD sell well (i.e. Chicago). Ok, no more shilling for my city.
