Well there is no actual definition of "Mimi". So many people have played her over the years that it really isnt possible to say "she doesn't look like Mimi." I think her version of the character looks slightly more subdued and less dominating then others but she still looks great.

Rosario is GORGEOUS anyway and a wonderful actress too. I cannot wait to see her in Rent. She looks perfect as Mimi.

Speaking of "no specific look for Mimi". About 5 years ago, when the tour came around, I saw a 'Mimi' who appeared black and had a huge, huge, HUGE arse. It was awful. Her blue pants were buldging...in not a good way.
So sad.
Isn't the character supose to be amost starving and on crack?
This actress was "healthy". Very "healthy". Ok, overwieght.

I keep wondering..."Who cast this person?"

Well appearing black is not an issue for who plays Mimi. Many, and I mean many of the talented women who played Mimi have been black. I don't know if you were pointing out that she was black for the reason she had a slightly larger back side. I don't know. But not fitting the pants? No matter who you are (Yes, even you 'Scary Spice') you have to fit the role and the costume.
