Incredible music. I wish Scott Alan much luck in his endeavors with this show. It needs to be seen and heard.
it is very nice and Scott Alan is incredibly talented and I hope we get to hear new things from this show soon. There are soo many great new composers out there.
i love never never land. is this going to be a musical? i hope it will!!
"His Name" is suuuuch a hilarious song! Kate Wetherhead's interpretation is so funny. And I love her clear voice!

Even though this is the fifth thread on this, I have to say, that it is a fabulous musical, and it is in the works to get to the stage. I have a copy of the book and full soundtrack because it was a NAMT submission for the New Works Festival.
Any casting rumors?

I love Never Neverland. Hope to see this produced!
Oh! I see Emily Skinner and Adriane Lenox were part of the reading. I'm a big fan of them both. And I'd love to see Adriane back in a musical.

There are no casting rumors. Piece still has to premiere at the New Works Festival in October. If a producer picks it up, than it will appear on stage. That is not saying that it will be on Broadway though. I think that it would still be an achievement for most of these writers to see their musical performed for a live audience no matter what the location is.
It was workshopped though,
Mother: Patricia Kilgarriff
Katherine: Rachel York
35: Emily Skinner
26: Shoshana Bean
17: Kate Wetherhead
Stacey: Adriane Lenox
Joe: James Lloyd Reynolds
Stephanie J. Block also recorded some of the songs as well as Julia Murney.
I'd love to see one of the Off-Broadway non-profits pick it up. Perhaps Playwrights Horizons.

Yeah. There is no doubt that this musical will be picked up. It was the best out of the group that I got to read. I think it would work very nice in an Off-Broadway theatre versus a Broadway theatre. There is minimal scenery and costuming described...and in addition to that, the subject matter of the show is so touching, I think it would go over better in a small, intimate theatre...in my opinion.
^I agree, its subject matter just seems more fitting for a more intimate theatre. I love the music though- all of it- but especially Never Never Land, Home and Magic and really hope it gets to be viewed by a wider audience soon(including, I hope, me.)

I saw a workshop of this a few years ago.
The music is wonderful and it really should be seen.
It is only a matter of time until this show reaches the audience that it deserves.
"Piece" is finally coming back- it'll be at the New World Stages, October 8th & 9th, 2006 in NYC. Check out www.namt.org or www.piecethemusical.com. Woo hoo!!
Though I won't be able to go, I'm SUPER-excited at the thought. Finally!
(I know this is kind of an old thread, but in the interest of saving myself from getting flamed and links thrown at me, it'll do.)
Scott Alan mentions this in his latest blog as well:
"On October 8th and 9th, 'Piece' will join seven other musicals for the NAMT (The National Alliance of Musical Theatre) festival. 'Piece' will be joined by 'Jerry Christmas (Music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa, book by Daniel Goldfarb),' 'Sunfish (book and lyrics by Michael L. Cooper, music by Hyeyoung Kim),' 'Vanities (book by Jack Heifner, music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum),' 'Julian Po (book and lyrics by Andrew Barrett, music by Ira Antelis),' 'One Step Forward (music and lyrics by Leslie Arden, book by Berni Stapleton with Leslie Arden and Timothy French) ,'Emma (music, book and lyrics by Paul Gordon, based on Jane Austen's classic novel Emma) ,'and 'Dangerous Beauty' (book by Jeannine Douminy, lyrics by Amanda McBroom, music by Michele Brourman) in an industry-only series of readings that showcase 45-minute excerpts from selected musicals to New York and regional producers and theatre professionals. The festival will take place at The New World Stages (aka The Dodger Stages).
This is a fantastic opportunity for 'Piece,' and we are looking forward to announcing our 'incredible' cast for the festival. I hope this finds you all happy and healthy. xo -SA"
