ok lesse..
Elphaba- lots of emotions..in the end gets her man
Eponine- not as many emotions, sticks to the more romantic part of her life, but since i love romance stories like that..and in the end she still doesnt get her man..and she dies lol

so i think the most meningful is Eponine

and i agree jmaclover, I always though Dorothy was a spoiled brat even before Wicked..lol

ITS MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Is this even a question?? ELPHABA DUH!! First off les Miz Doesnt even Center around Eponine. Second Eponine just sits there and is all boohoo I love Marius but he doesnt love me.Then she gets shot and He feels bad and they have a sweet lil duet. Elphabe has to go through alot more and gets love in the end and actully gets things done/Belives in someting based on her own convictions not to impress some dude. And Eponine is just so bloody passive. Plus I have heard so many BAD version of On My Own That that song makes me vomit Now. PLUS ELPHIE GETS TO FLY!!!!!!!

Although I would consider neither to be a great character in American theatre history (or even American musical theatre history) - I would have to go with Elphaba, simply because Lis Miserables does not fully develop Eponine as a character. Her motivations and her desires are rather cliche when you break down the scenes that she was in...and her story centered on a love triangle of sorts.

Which one would you guys rather play?

Eponine has a great song, but Elphaba is a lead role.

Well, seeing as how I already played Eponine in Paris, and my audition is for a role with music similar to Elphaba's, I shall say Elphaba.

Elphaba has to sing in several bad songs. Eponine gets two awesome songs.

"During this performance, please feel free to let your cell phones and pagers ring willy-nilly. However, do remember that there are heavily-armed knights on stage and you might well be dragged up and impaled." (Pre-curtain announcement at the new Broadway musical Monty Python's Spamalot)

"'PLUS ELPHIE GETS TO FLY!!!!!!!'

Not to mention Eponine gets to climb the barricade and a fence!
