Ways to annoy people: Arrive at a meeting late, say you're sorry, but you didn't have time for lunch, and you're going to be nibbling during the meeting. Then eat raw potatoes. Ask people what gender they are,or Disagree strongly with everything anybody says:)

I know it's pretty easy for most people to see that the vast majority of stunt-casted "celebrities" are mediocre at best. I was just pointing out that a pure meritocracy is as impossible in theater as it is in every other medium. Celebrity counts, even if it's within the theater world itself.

And daisy, most people are too cool for me. I'm a dork.

Well... it's possible in my Utopia!

Seriously, I have learned to evaluate things by examining extremes... taken to the extremes, you have zero talent celebrities ruining Broadway by turning it into a HollywoodSquares-esque gig for unemployed celebrities (and if celebrity counts, then the more, the better, right?) vs. unknowns or musical theatre specialists with incredible talent landing leads, and talented musical theatre kids having attainable aspirations of getting to the top on the wings of their talent, effort and pluck, not on their agent's ability to land them a part on a soap opera or sitcom.

I do hear you about the value of celebrity, and unlike baseball, no one buys season tickets to see the same show 75 times, so the dynamics change, but it is bad for Broadway in the long run to allow celebrity to dictate casting.

Blame the powers that be that beg these people to be in the shows.

They're blamed.

As are the People magazine reading ticket buyers who would rather see a real celebrity in person than a good show. Funny- where else can they be guaranteed of seeing a celeb (even if only in return for $100)? To some, the show must just seem like a necessary vehicle for their idol's appearance.

Pardon me for the nauseating imagery.
