Okay, so I'm planning to go into the city next weekend (the 29th and 30th). Now, my main purpose for going is to see Wedding Singer, but as I should have a little bit of extra time around that, I would absolutely KILL to see wicked with Eden and Kate. I havnt gotten to see wicked yet, and this cast just seems soooo great and I just... need to see it. haha. But, the problem is, tickets are crazy hard to get right? Because they dont do rush I know, they only do lotto, and thats like nearly impossible to win. So.. does anyone know if there is ANY way I would possibly be able to get decent-priced seats (in other words not full-price) that would be a definite thing and not just a chance I could get them? I totally dont mind front row, partial view, or anything like that! If there is a way to get tickets on the spot for fairly inexpensive, then I honestly do not care worth a flip where they are
haha. So yeah, if anyone happens to know of anything, I'd soooo greatly appreciate some advice!

Well - I found a partial view on Ticketmaster. You just have to keep checking the site. You might want to try the box office and ask if they have any partial view seats available when you're there.
Otherwise.... good luck.

you have only 2 choices if you NEED to see it:
1. lotto- very hard to win indeed- i've tried 3 times and haven't won once!
2. premium seats- over $200 a seat, prime seating- idn if u wana spend that kinda $$
otherwise ur outa luck
lmao sorry
but good luck anyways!

Posted: 7/21/06 at 2:24pmI mentioned this before, but I went to the city to see Spelling Bee but we entered the Wicked Lotto just in case - holy crap I have never seen so many people in my life. There was over 500 people in line and they had to cut them off, people didn't even get to put their names in a hat. I wasn't too sad about it, I did see Wicked 3 times already - wouldn't hurt to see it again. As farr as getting tickets, impossible. I paid over $100 all three times and was in the nosebleeds all three times, and I ordered months in advance. That show is hot to trott right now, love it!

It's not impossible. I paid $66.00 for a partial view, row H LESS than a month before the date I saw the show. Great seat, by the way, hardly a partial view. Definitely not a nosebleed. Never say never. Sometimes you can get very lucky on Ticketmaster

It's tough to score a ticket to Oz, but not impossible
I purchased mine the first time I saw it- back with the OBC, even- by simply walking up to the Gershwin box office. Perhaps I got lucky? The second time I saw it, I was with a friend who got tickets. The third time, I won the lottery.
It can happen, keep trying all different ways
to wherever

Definitely try the box office -- I got 4th row ORCH seats the day before the show back in May (during Megan's last week) -- when they told me the show was sold out. And it was for a weekend performance.
I've had to pay premium ticket pricing for seats twice also (those were $250) but I got my Orch seats for $110.
Always check for partial view seats -- those are cheaper.
And... try searching ticketmaster for one ticket at a time. You might not get to sit together, but it's easier to find seats that way.
THey're hard to get, but not impossible!

Posted: 7/22/06 at 11:00amThere are random shows here or there that will have SOMETHING. But try cancellation if you can't get anything in advance.

Posted: 7/22/06 at 12:25pmI got orchestra seats the day before I saw the show in October. Sometimes they randomly pop up if you keep trying. I also got cancellation tickets on a Saturday once after failing to get lotto. Persistance and a willingness to wait in line for a while is key.

I hope its ok for me to highjack this thread . I didn't want to start a new one as i will be asking a similar question .
My friends and I are going to New York this December . We are hoping to catch Wicked but wondering if we need to buy the tickets now or wait and buy them out there? I have no idea how sold out the show is or how long i should buy them before hand.
We're not sure of the exact dates we are going yet but I'm just worried that what with it being near Christmas the show will be sold out.
And advice would be greatly appreciate.
Again I apologies for high jacking this thread .

It's good that you did bump this thread, it's encouraged at BWW for questions like yours.
Christmas...I'd say yes, try to buy them by September. Big tourist time + big, popular show = sold out. So better safe than sorry, unless you want to take your chances.

Thank you for your reply . It's very helpfull and I most definitely will not be taking any chances. I will book it as soon as i now the exact dates we will be in New York for I think i would be mortified if I lost my chance while visiting the City .
I will be seeing it in London in September, ( I'm so excited about seeing Idina Menzel) . Would like to go to LA to see it also but i think im pushing my luck with that one lol.
I'm sorry to ask so many questions, but having not ever visted The Gershwin Theater before, (or new york come to think of it ) Would you also advise me on seating . We are on holiday so don't mind splashing out more on a better view , but where exactly would that better view be situated .
Thank you in advance

Posted: 7/24/06 at 9:50pmThe best place to sit is center in the front of the orchestra. But getting that around Christmas time now I don't think would happen. But you never know. I thought sitting second row in the mezz was a lot further away then most broadway theatres rear mezzanines, so I didn't find it worth it. I also have gotten the $55 partial view seats row G and I would reccomend getting those. You really don't miss anything except the sets in the far back, which are symmetrical to the opposite sides anyway so you know what's there. So unless you can get orchestra Row DD-J, I wouldn't reccomend getting full price seats.

Thank you for all information you have been most helpful.
I feel a little easier with the advise I have been given this evening. All I have to do now is book the tickets and wait for December to arrive!

starlight4, I know your query has been answered but I just have to stress at you, GET YOUR TICKETS NOW. Do not delay!!! Seriously. I'm heading over at the end of December and I was looking for two seats together and couldn't get any until the start of January. Now yes, I am picky, and I didn't want to sit in row X, but Wicked sells fiendishly fast. I bought those tickets about two months ago now, as well.
I also second partial view - they're fantastic! I got myself partial view tickets for the other times I'm seeing it, it was just that first time where I really *had* to get two seats together
