Some thoughts: saw it tonight and loved it for the most part. The ensemble is absolutely flawless...I don't have my Playbill in front of me but the cast could not have been more on point. I was in the front row and it was really uncanny and startling how real their performances were.
My first thought was that the show was a bit too quirky for its own good...and somewhat pretentious. But those fears and qualms were quickly wiped away once the show really took off, which happens fairly soon. The hour and fifty minutes flew by and it was absolutely shocking how moving it was. It's totally unpredictable and very effective as both a comedy and a drama. Genuinely and organically funny and startlingly moving...just excellent. And the direction was wonderful too, perfectly suited for the material.
I'm glad I caught it and would definitely see it again. See it!

I thought this was definitely one of the best plays I've seen this season, maybe even the best (though In the Next Room could definitely give it a run for its money.)
Playwrights is putting out very good work right now. Between "Circle Mirror..." and "This", they have two hits on their hands.
