And do you seriously think that the majority of Rock of Ages supporters have a broad knowledge of the history of the American musical?

I do, which is why I like it. It's shows like this that provided the foundation for American musicals and Broadway itself.

Yeah, for every hit like Rock of Ages that become a mainstream success, that allows producers to venture out and produce things that maybe are a little more experimental on Broadway and not sure things.



I thought Guys and Dolls was so bad. I don't think I care for the core show anyways, but this revival didn't win me over at all.

I don't know if Mildred has thrown up his white flag on this debate, but I did want to include a really well written and intelligent defense of ROA as a legitimate piece of art. Mainly, because it is a funny read that is both articulate and amusing... AND does a better job sticking up for this "red headed step child" of Broadway than I ever could. Enjoy!
